Our Ethos
We believe in providing exceptional service that encourages positive wellbeing for your cat, during their groom and after.
We are dedicated to sourcing only the most ethical options available, and are committed to providing cosmetics that use only cat-safe ingredients.
aims:
to fulfil all grooms
to the highest standards
for the groomer
to think cat!
We want your cat to enjoy all their grooming sessions, which requires building trust between them and the groomer. It may take time to build this special bond, but this is our top priority,
The groomer will work with your cat to habituate them to the different grooming processes, through patience, practice and positive reinforcement.
products:
A cat’s experience of their world is hugely sensory, and scent and texture are important aspects to consider when choosing products.
We are always on the hunt for the best. Rest assured we invest a significant amount of time on research. Where possible we source cosmetics that are ethical, that use limited ingredients and that are cat-safe.
The cat
Cats are renowned for their sass and quirks! Kitties may not speak your language, but they sure know how to get what they want (or what they don’t want)! In fact, cats speak “meow” (a language they only speak to humans, amazing huh?).
I’m do my best to try interpret their experience of what’s happening around them, in the hope that I can help create a safe space for me and kitty to make friends and have a lasting bond through all their future grooming sessions.
Cats are very particular about social interactions and are often unwilling to express feelings of vulnerability. I understand the subtleties of cat behaviour and will not force your cat to endure any part of the groom; I adapt and allow for breaks. I rather work slowly at the pace they find acceptable, to encourage them to trust the process and to trust me. After all Catology Club cats are V.I.C’s (Very Important Cats) and they deserve the best!
The groomer
My name is Cherise, and I am the person caring for your kitty.
I am a fully qualified Professional Cat Groomer. I achieved my Certificate through The National Pet College (part of the Pet Industry Federation), with Distinction.
bookings
Enquiries can be made via email or telephone. I will aim to contact you as soon as I can.
I may be with another client and be unable to answer your call, so please leave a voicemail with contact details.
All bookings for new and regular clients are only confirmed when the deposit of £45 has been received.
New Clients:
All kittens must have completed their first sets of immunisations (usually around 12 - 16 weeks old), prior to attending your first appointment.
IMPORTANT: It is my policy to only groom clients who are registered with a veterinary practise, and vaccinated. This is to safeguard your animal. By being aware of any underlying health conditions, I can adapt my procedures to help mitigate risk of exacerbating them or causing any discomfort. If your cat is not vaccinated, and in desperate need of remedial grooming (severe matting etc.) I may be able to proceed case-by-case. This will need discussion prior to booking.
The act of paying the deposit denotes that you have read and agreed to the T&C’s.
Regular Clients:
Maintenance grooms should, ideally, be scheduled every 8-weeks, as large intervals may allow matts, sebum or excess undercoat to build up. Grooming plans are discussed with owners and tailored to meet yours and your cat’s needs.
Regularly scheduled grooms are discounted if booked and deposit paid within the recommended 8-week interval (first groom full price).
Appointment days:
Tuesdays and Fridays
8 a.m - 5 p.m
I may be able to accommodate bookings outside of this,
upon request
what to expect...
Enquiries:
Email enquiries will be followed up in brief, but for more details a phone call is best. Bookings require the following information:
Grooming plans and prices are estimates, until on-the-day assessment and completion of the groom. A provisional booking is made, but is not secured until the deposit of £45 is received. This will be requested via text message, with a link to Terms and Conditions. An Appointment Confirmation email will then be sent when payment has been received.
On the day:
Please have the Groom space, you and kitty ready on arrival. Ensure all windows and doors are closed and no interruptions from visitors or other animals.
New clients get a Groom Consultation with their first session, at no extra cost, to assess kitty and complete a ‘My Cat Questionnaire’. At all grooms a Groom Contract with price estimate is agreed by the owner. The groom will then proceed with the owner present. Extra time may be requested by the groomer during the session, if deemed necessary for the client, and if convenient for the owner. All sessions work to the tolerance of the cat, and the groomer will communicate progress throughout and aim to achieve the desired outcome. It may be necessary to split a session in two parts, if the cat is likely to become distressed, or where continuation could be harmful.
Payment is taken by card or cash (note, I do not carry cash and cannot give change), and the groom space tidied. Follow-up sessions and deposit can also be arranged on the day.

before & after
...dry grooms
A Dry Groom is our typical groom package, for maintaining coat condition.
Ideally, these should be scheduled every 8-weeks to ensure kitty has a soft, matt-free coat that's clean and healthy.
Regular sessions also help kitty adjust to the process and build tolerance, so that they can reach a calm, relaxed state during each session.
...wet grooms
A Wet Groom is a full bath and blow dry to thoroughly clean the coat, making them soft and sleek, followed by a thorough Dry Groom.
This is good for kitties if they are outdoor explorers that get mucky coats, or if they have excessive natural oils that create greasy coats, or where the skin is dry with dandruff. It can help cleanse the coat and skin to refresh condition following any health-related issues (once appropriate), to grow a healthy, soft coat. Or perhaps kitty is older and not able to keep on top of their own grooming.
...Specialist grooms
partial/ full lion trim
These sessions are for remedying matting/ pelting (where multiple matts join together to form a ‘carpet’ of hair). Often this can be a stressful or uncomfortable session, as matts pull at the skin and can create irritation, itchiness or wounds. The extent of the shave depends on the matting and can be modified.
